The spear through her chest burns more than hurts; she stumbles as it's jerked free, coughs up blood.
An arm is around her before her knees can buckle, Angelo's chest presses against her back, strong and solid. He snarls a spell; she sees the orcs thrown around by the wind he summoned, and slumps against him, safe, secure, knowing they've won.
Another spell, his voice distant, desperate. Now there's pain, as the magic forces her to heal. He holds her up through all of it, kissing her gently, whispering reassurances, and when the spell finishes, he doesn't let her go.
