Princess Medea is very grateful for her husband.

She's grateful that he steadfastly refused to give up until the curse was broken, that he prevented her marriage to Prince Charmles, that he wed her in Charmles' stead. He is, has ever been, her dearest friend. She loves him.

But she doesn't love him. They both know it, though he will never betray that truth.

Jessica's sure fingers, touching, stroking, draw her back from her bleak musings. "Are you all right?" she asks; there's worry in her eyes.

"I'm fine," she lies, and returns Jessica's touches until the worry fades away.
