He thought he had given up on fairness long before, but even so the utter unfairness of it rankled. Twice they had fought Dhoulmagus, twice they had beaten him, and yet, somehow, he had still won. Or at least, the force controlling him had won, and taken Jessica as its prize.
Angelo listened to her voice - their voices, for Jessica's was oddly mixed with the voice of the creature controlling her - and watched the lips he had kissed so often twist into a disdainful, alien expression, and made a silent vow.
He would not let it keep her.
