"You're not used to apologizing, are you?"

Jessica's spine stiffened. "What?"

"Apologizing. You're not good at it." Angelo watched her from the corner of his eye, trying - but not too hard - to hide a smile at the flush which rose in her cheeks.

"I am perfectly capable of..."

"Capable," he interrupted. "Not good at it. That's why you have to brace yourself before you can manage it."

She was fast; he was faster, catching her hand before the slap connected. He kissed her palm before releasing her to storm off in a huff.

Later, he'd show her a proper apology.
